How To Light Your Bedroom
March 5th, 2010 | by admin |When deciding on a lighting strategy for a bedroom you need to consider providing enough light
at times when you need maximum brightness this could be in the morning when getting ready. You don’t want the lighting too relaxed at such times.
Most people require a task light over the bed for reading. A possible option for this is adjustable
fibre-optic reading lights which provide just enough light to cover the page whilst not disturbing
your partner. Another option is reading spotlights.
Bedside lamps are more for atmosphere than function and maybe enough to read by but because you cannot
direction the light as needed it could be disturbing to others in the room.
If there is a shortage of bedside space or even just for dramatic effect hanging pendants either side
of the bed head are becoming very popular.
Other sources of light can be provided from standing lamps and any shelving or alcoves can be lit to
provide atmosphere and highlight pictures etc.
Also remember to correctly light any mirrors because if the light is coming directly from above it can
be very unflattering and cast shadows. The ideal is to have a light source either side of the mirror.
