Premature Reconciliation – What You Should Know
February 3rd, 2010 | by admin |Premature reconciliation refers to the tendency by a man or woman to try to rekindle a relationship with an ex girlfriend or ex boyfriend too soon. The catalyst is usually a meeting of some kind where the party interested in rekindling the relationship makes some genuine headway in that direction, but moves forward too fast.
For example, consider Tom and Heather. After they broke up, both took some time off to consider their relationship and decide whether to give it another try or not. Tom eventually calls Heather, who accepts his invitation to a coffee at Starbuck’s.
The meeting goes well, but after about twenty minutes, Tom moves forward too fast and suggests a romantic date. Heather is hesitant and instead of getting the coffee percolating again, the pot moves to the back burner in a big way.
Even if Heather had been the first to suggest a date, Tom would have been well advised to stay calm by saying “Let’s take it slow and see how it goes.”
Take things slow at the first meeting and remember: Quitting while you’re ahead isn’t the same as quitting.
