It is our mentality. A sixteen year old girl wearing sari will look like a sixteen year old and not older. It is just our minds that are trained to see older ladies wearing sarees. Hence we relate the two together.

It's true. Sarees are meant for women but not for girls. So, when girls put on a saree they look a little matured.

When girls do wear saris, they usually lather on lots of makeup to give themselves a more mature look because they’re wearing something that makes them look sophisticated, which is why they look older.
I’m sure any woman who puts on a frilly dress and ties her hair in two ponytails will look a lot younger.
It’s not just your perception; it’s psychology.

Saris are mostly meant for woman, not girls, so when girls wear them, it gives them age.
