I want to take a driving holiday for one week – Mumbai to Hampi and back. What is the best route?
November 11th, 2009 | by admin |I have been told that the best route is Mumbai-Pune-Kolhapur-Hubli-Hospet. But I believe there is a shorter route via Solapur. Can anybody advise on which is the better route? My ONLY concern here is the condition of the roads in general. I have a Honda City – so not exactly a high ground clearance car.
I Suggest the following.
As you mentioned very rightly there are two ways to reach Hampi 1. NH4 PB Road. 2. NH13 Via Solapur Bijapur.
The condition of NH4 is just too good,so there is no worry for the speed and quality of the road.
The condition of the road from Pune to Solapur is average, and NH13 from solapur till IlKAL ( near to Bijapur ) is good, after that the condition of the road ia average and is not that good as NH4 but not bad also. You will not have any problem for your Honda.
The advantage of taking NH13 is that you can get to look Badami, Pattadakal, Banashankari etc on the way.
So if you want to hit Hampi directly then I suggest to take NH4 way

The best road is Mumbai to Hubli via belgam to Hospet
Hospet to Hampi is very close
