The Roll of Yoga In Your Fitness Program
February 8th, 2010 | by admin |If there are two fitness program types that women love more than any other, it has to be yoga and pilates. Yoga especially has it’s place in your fitness program, but where is that place and why should you also make sure you do more “traditional” types of working out.
Yoga is really great because it helps to center your mind and it really helps you to be cognizant of your breathing. And what’s surprising is more woman do not know how to breath properly. However, yoga will not help you build your muscles like weight training or help you burn fat like effective cardio training… one of the best exercises to lose weight.
Here’s how I like to integrate my workouts so I can get full benefits in the smallest amount of time, after all… nothing is worse than having your day interrupted by a workout that is way too long.
I like to weight train the majority of the time because that helps me build my lean feminine muscle mass so I can boost my metabolism and keep burning fat. These workout sessions are only three days a week and last only 40 minutes. So they are fast and highly effective.
On my off days, I really enjoy doing either high intensity circuits or interval training. Each of these are the only way to properly do cardio training. And what’s really great about them is they only last 20 minutes… and again I try to do them three days a week. Sometimes I will mix things up and replace my weight training with circuit training.
Finally, this is where yoga fits in. At least three days a week, I like to do my yoga. I am a personal trainer… not a yoga instructor so I just use DVDs or workouts I get from the Internet. They only last 20 minutes so they are fast, but I get some great range of motion work while starting my day off clean minded.
Make sure you try a similar workout regimen and see how fast your body changes, but also how much happy and confident you are because you are managing your time with your workouts… and adding the power of yoga to the mix too!
