engine loom caught fire so when i fit everything will the car run or will the ecu have to be reprogramed even tho its from the same make and model bmw e36 m3

This is a tricky question. The 2nd hand wire loom and ECU from the same model is obviously going to wire in the same. It is questionable whether the ECU will perform correctly when all entities have been connected however.

Even though it came from the same type of vehicle it carries some very specific data about the vehicle it was in. It’s hard to give an accurate answer without knowing the year of the vehicle but chances are high that it will fail without being programmed or "reset" by a BMW tech.

Many of the newer ECU modules in a BMW are embedded with a physical hardware address (much like a MAC address on a personal computer), this address much match up with other components in the vehicle or the ECU will refuse to work.

In this situation I would go ahead and replace the entire loom and install the new ECU. Once it is completely installed give in to the urge to start it and see what happens…you might get lucky. If you notice any strange behavior it will have to be serviced by a BMW tech. BMW’s were never intended to be worked on by non-certified techs….they’re now actually engineered to prevent this!

Hope this helps!

Hes already shown that he’s good with his hands…..the close control used in the Gillette razor adverts for example, what commercial products can he look forward to promoting now he’s gonna be in greater demand with the World Cup looming?

To all you Thierry Henry haters I must say this:
The guy has brought SO MUCH GOOD to football, just look at his efforts through the "Say no to Racism" campaign, the anti-racist "Stand Up Speak Up" campaign, the fact that he promotes UNICEF, and the fact that he is a supporter of "Joga Bonito" – play beautifully.
Okay, so he made a disgraceful mistake here, but it was the referees fault for not penalizing it. Henry is a player, not a referee. It’s the referees job to address anything illegal. Put yourself in Thierry Henry’s shoes – if you happened to have provided an illegal assist that led to the winning goal that put your country to the World Cup, would you keep quiet or try to get it disallowed? I think the answer is obvious.
Henry is human just like us, we all make mistakes, except he left unpunished. Blame the match officials.

I acquired and old primitive device made out of heavy cast iron I believe. Marked on it is " THE SINGER MANUFACTURING CO" and 2 sets of numbers… "F9764597" & "49 K 3". It has hand hand crank wheel and as you turn the wheel a thin piece of metal about 2" long and 10" wide with several slots in it moves back and forth with the cranking of the wheel. Some one told me they used it to make quilts or fabric but were not sure of the actual name of this device. I would like to know what this is called. I can email pictures to any one who might know what this is. I am trying to describe it to sell it on eBay. The whole thing is 14" wide with out the wheel and 12" tall. Here is a link to 2 pictures…

I appreciate all the help I can get. Thanks.

Wow! You’ve stumped me! You might need to go somewhere that has more eyeballs than Yahoo answers, such as the patternreview forum or maybe the threads magazine forum. They have lots of experts there who might have some inkling of what your device is.

http://sewing.patternreview.com/
http://www.threadsmagazine.com/ click on "gatherings" for their forum. registering is free and you should find someone there who knows what your thing is.

i have an 11 yr old niece living far away that has mentioned *several* times over the past year that she wants to sew and art quilt. although her mother is bright and has other talents, she’s self admittedly truly useless at ANY kind of creative handwork–so no help there. her dad is deployed in the mid-east til april or may and he CAN sew or do almost anything with his hands. however, i want to send her a packet of goodies with some fairly easy projects she can do by hand on her own learning simple embroidery stitches and simple hand sewing techniques that she’ll need even when she gets a machine. when her father returns, i’ll go for a few weeks, buy her a good machine and teach her enough to get going. i am such a tool/toy/material junkie that i don’t have any perspective and am afraid of overwhelming her (and her minimalist mother). what are your suggestions? she is extremely creative and taught herself to loom knit at age 8. are there any good websites she/we can turn to for instruction or easy and well explained projects? i’ve been doing this so long, i don’t even really remember what the basics are.

Embroidery is really good. Perhaps starting her with a long stitch kit would be good there are plenty on the market anchor and dmc have some really good ones.

Counted cross stich is another easy one to begin with loads of beginners kits. Perhaps she could make her dad a christmas card.

My mother passed away several months ago and tax season is looming. My brother and I received 6k each from her benificiary disability thing, there was car life insurance that paid on the car with another 1k to pay back from the time she was disabled, we’ve also gotten the pension worth 12k. We’re waiting on the 401k, a group life insurance of 42k, 8k of which is going to the funeral home, and a individual life insurance of 36k which will go through her sister to us.

My question is, how do I figure out what I should file for my own taxes and for my late mother’s taxes. o_O All the money has been switching hands between us and being paid for this or that, and trying to get all this paperwork done. What is taxable? What’s not? Are we being really stupid? Do I really really have to go hire a dang professional?

Thanks

For your mother her final 1040 will report all income to her date of death. After her death if there is no probate then no Form 1041 is required. For your taxes you will receive 1099 forms in January showing what is taxable. Use those to do your taxes or take it to a professional if you get confused.

The prophet Muhammed (saw) went to the top of Mount Safa one day and Shouted " Ya Sabaha ! Ya Sabaha" (This is a cry that people make when there is great and imminent danger (e.g. and army about to attack you))

So the people of Quraysh assembled to hear what the prophet Muhammed (saw) had to say as to why he said "Ya Sabaha"

So the prophet Muhammed (saw) asked: "Would you believe me, if i were to tell you that behind this hill there is an enemy ready to attack you ? "

The people replied "We have never heard you tell a lie. " So please take note of the character of the pophet Muhammed (saw) BEFORE he got ANY revelation, he was KNOWN to be honest and truthful !

So the prophet (saw) said to the people of Quraysh " Then I warn you that a punishment is looming upon you." Then he called each tribe of people and told them to save themselves from the fire, then he would call individuals and told them to save themselves from the fire.

Then Abu Lahab (the UNLCLE of the prophet Muhammed (saw)) said before anybody else could reply "May your day perish, is this all you have called us for ?" Abu Lahab was more concerned about his business and wordly life !

Thus a surah was revealed to the prophet Muhammed (SAW). Surah Masad which is surah number 111:

1. Perish the two hands of Abu Lahab (an uncle of the Prophet), and perish he!

2. His wealth and his children (etc.) will not benefit him!

3. He will be burnt in a Fire of blazing flames!

4. And his wife too, who carries wood (thorns of Sadan which she used to put on the way of the Prophet () , or use to slander him).

5. In her neck is a twisted rope of Masad (palm fibre).

(Audio for above stated surah: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sd1gd6-OjrE&feature=related )

So I say to you YA SABAHA ! YA SABAHA !

Will you head the warning or will you be just like Abu Lahab ?

How will you head this warning ?

May Allah guide us all ! and protect us and our families from the fire whose fuel is men and stone.

assalamo alaykom.

jazaka LLAH khayran…thats a good very important reminder.

i dont know why, but i just now feel this q influenced on me, so baraka LLAH fik.

its scary to think about hell fire and its like each one of us is the sahaba(ra) who listenned to the prophet(as) warning them.

i just ask Allah to save us from hell fire and to protect our faith, death could come in any sec…. thank u really for the reminder….

i will try to be more nice here…

===>>May Allah guide us all ! and protect us and our families from the fire whose fuel is men and stone.

amin amin amin

may Allah reward u with ferdaws and us all.amin

keep those reminders we need them in our days.

it looks like leaving yahoo made u wiser…

As self indulgence rules our land,
some children just don’t fit the plan
Is our destruction looming?
Precious buds of God’s design,
little smiles that never glow,
lives left longing to unfold.
It’s a tragedy we’re choosing.
The sweetest gift that God could give,
He made to grow, to love, to live.
So help us Lord to let them live
for they’re roses meant for blooming.

Indeed! " Children must bloom where they are planted".

God is the giver of Life. We are made in his image.

Genesis 2
