Teleprompter Training Tip #16: Don’t Rock

February 9th, 2010 | by admin |

People often rock from side to side or shuffle their foot positions when standing. Again, this is perfectly normal reaction, but it’s undesirable in a production environment.

Shifting from side to side makes you look uncomfortable, which you probably are if you’re rocking about.

Similar to the eye contact and movement discussed previously, gesturing during a performance is fine. Animated gestures form part of the way we communicate and are perfectly natural. Shifting from side to side or awkwardly shuffling your feet though isn’t an acceptable part of a production though.

As you get to start of the take, spend a few moments warming up. Stretches, bends, jumps. Anything to shake off your fatigue. The idea is to be both mentally and physically ready.

If the warm up still won’t keep you still, ask for a pedestal to keep one foot on or even deliver your presentation while seated.

When you are ready to bring your presentations in-house, use professional teleprompter software . . . it will make a huge difference to the success of your production.
